GREAT LAKES, Illinois (August 1, 2025) Naval Station Great Lakes (NSGL) Security Department Leading Chief Petty Officer, Senior Chief Master-at-Arms William Ellwood, from Hudson, Wisconsin, receives the Meritorious Service Medal from NSGL Commanding Officer Capt. Stephen Yargosz. Ellwood received the award for his exceptional leadership while serving as acting command master chief of NSGL, where he led 11 divisions consisting of 224 military, civilian, reserve and auxiliary security force personnel, ensuring the safety and security of 52 tenant commands, 25 thousand personnel, and 7.5 billion dollars in infrastructure aboard the Navy's largest training installation.
