The restricted area cable and buoys just below Denison Dam from the Denison, Texas side of the Red River, July 29, 2025. Swimming, wading, and boating are prohibited inside the posted restricted area below the Denison Dam. The area is delineated by signage, an overhead cable and red safety markers approximately 1000 feet downstream from the tailrace that delineates the area. Shallow water often tempts visitors to enter in search of lost lures, fishing weights, bait fish, or better fishing opportunities, but doing so is risky and could be fatal.
