A cake waits to be cut at the conclusion of the Naval Medical Forces Pacific change of command ceremony July 25. In a time-honored tradition, Outgoing NMFP Commander Rear Adm. Guido Valdes, who is also the Defense Health Network Pacific Rim director, turned over the helm to incoming NMFP Commander Rear Adm. Kevin Brown. Valdes led the region for three years and the network since it was stood up in October 2023. Brown most recently served as Commander, Naval Medical Forces Atlantic and Director, Defense Health Network Atlantic. Naval Medical Forces Pacific oversees 10 subordinate Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Commands, ensuring they are trained, staffed, and equipped to support operational medicine and warfighter readiness. DHN-PR ensures the delivery of world-class care at the network's nine military treatment facilities to the 276,000 beneficiaries they serve. (DOD photo by Regena Kowitz)
