Contractors perform electrical work in preparation for pump installation at the bypass pumping system in Spruce Pine, North Carolina. The pump is expected to be installed in the coming weeks. This mission is only a part of the larger Infrastructure Assessment mission that USACE has been executing across Western North Carolina in response to Hurricane Helene.
The pumping station is designed to ensure the delivery of potable water to area residents and critical facilities, to include hospitals, schools, public safety facilities and elderly care locations.
