INALAHAN, Guam (July 18, 2025) Service members stand in recognition of service at the Hasso Inalåhan memorial ceremony, July 18. The Inalåhan memorial pays respect to those who survived and died from several concentration and internment camps in the area during World War II, the torture and execution of Father Jesus Baza Duenas and those who were gathered and forced to march to Mañenggon. Guam is celebrating its 81st anniversary of liberation from Japanese rule during WWII this year with the theme “Fanohge CHamoru,” which is the opening line of Guam's national anthem and translates to a call to rise united, proud, and strong.
