U.S. Navy Seabees, contractors, and stakeholders pose for a photo in a topping-out ceremony for the P-315 Recruit Mess Hall project at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California, June 30, 2025.
The 96,000-square-foot facility is set to become the largest dining facility in the Department of Defense. It will support the Depot’s mission to 'Make Marines' by serving up to 20,000 meals per day for the next 60 years. A topping-out ceremony, also known as a topping off ceremony, is a traditional celebration marking the completion of a building's highest point, typically when the final beam is placed.
