BOSTON (July 25, 2024) — A U.S. Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Cape Cod hovers above Boston Harbor as a rescue swimmer and flight mechanic survey the water before deployment during a search and rescue demonstration. The flight mechanic typically spots the water, communicates with the pilot and rescue swimmer, and supervises the safe deployment and recovery of personnel during hoist operations. The event was part of Celebrating Lifesavers at Sea, commemorating the 68th anniversary of the SS Andrea Doria rescue.
