Yorktown, Va. (July 9, 2025) An MH-60S assigned to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 7 along with its aircrew and others conduct training at the Navy Expeditionary Combat Command training range onboard Naval Weapons Station Yorktown. Training cycles consisted of insertion of Sailors via fast roping to a rooftop and exfiltration at LZ Mason onboard the installation. Training also involved the use of blank rounds from rooftop and aloft during several passes of the training areas.
HSC-7, also known as the “Dusty Dogs” is a helicopter squadron based at Naval Station Norfolk. The squadron operates the MH-60S Knighthawk, and is a part of Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 3. The squadron deploys aboard carriers and other air capable ships to provide essential search and rescue, anti-surface warfare, personnel recovery, Naval Special Warfare Support, combat logistics, antiterrorism force protection, vertical replenishment, medical evacuations, and other various overland and maritime capabilities to the strike group.
