Steve Thorpe, an electrical systems engineer, assigned to the 567th Red Horse Squadron, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina, cut wood at Puʻuhonua o Waiʻanae, an affordable housing site, during Innovation Readiness Training (IRT) in Waiʻanae, Hawaii, July 7, 2025. These Department of Defense military training programs are conducted exclusively throughout the United States and its territories. This specific IRT project integrates military skilled-labor and community resources to support vulnerable populations in Hawaii through the construction of sustainable housing.
