Mariajose Borja, a linguist manager with Regimental Combat Team 7, holds her daughter, Isabella Smith Borja, while visiting a waterfall during their last days together in Quito, Ecuador, Sept. 19, before Borja deployed to Helmand province, Afghanistan. Borja, a 32-year-old from Newark, N.J., will be spending her upcoming “rest and recuperation” time visiting two-year-old Isabella.
