Explosive ordnance disposal personnel assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit 6, Detachment 14, conduct a “special purpose insertion/extraction” training exercise from the flight deck of the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Enterprise Sept. 23. SPIE is a method used to rapidly insert or extract special operations forces from terrain not suitable for helicopter landings.
