Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld lays a wreath in the Court of Honor at the North African American Cemetery and Memorial in Tunis, Tunisia, Feb. 12, 2006. There are 2,841 military dead buried at this 27-acre site north of Tunis. American Battle Monuments Commission members were moved by the respect the secretary showed for the nation's war dead when he casually picked up a cigarette butt he found on the ground during his tour of the cemetery.
