This commemorative plaque gives an incorrect 1811 construction date for Anderson Cottage, at the U.S. Soldiers' and Airmen's Home in Washington. President Lincoln spent a quarter of his term at the cottage, built by banker George Washington Riggs in the early 1840s. The cottage, still in active use today, was declared a national monument on July 7, 2000. Photo by Rudi Williams.
