Biomechanical engineer Brian Baum and physical therapist Barri Schnall talk about added capabilities of the gait lab now located in the new Military Advanced Training Center at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. The $10 million, 31-000-square-foot facility opened Sept. 12, 2007. The gait lab in the new building has nearly doubled its size. It can now record movements from 23 camera angles and has added a treadmill built into the floor that will allow specialists, for the first time, to collect force plate data from soldiers while running.
