Kari Miller, an Army veteran who lost both legs to a drunk driver and went on to earn a spot on the U.S. Paralympics women’s sitting volleyball national team, shows her silver medal from the summer games in Beijing to former Army Staff Sgt. Karl Dorman during the National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic in Snowmass Village, Colo. Dorman, who lost his leg above the knee while serving with the Maryland National Guard, skis, snowboards, bikes, surfs and is a member of an elite group of athletes who make up the first All Amputee Standup Veterans Softball Team.
