U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Maj. Christophe Rivera, left, the command senior enlisted leader with 4th Marine Regiment, 3d Marine Division, receives a plaque from Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Col. Tomoyuki Ito, the commanding officer of the 51st Regiment, on Camp Schwab, Okinawa, Japan, June 17, 2025. Rivera was awarded a letter of appreciation by the JGSDF for his efforts assisting with the planning and coordination of multiple events between members of the 4th Marine Regiment and the 51st Regiment of the JGSDF. Working closely with Allied and partner forces helps strengthen international relations, enhance interoperability, and increases shared lethality on the battlefield. Rivera is a native of Florida.
