Troy Edgar, Deputy Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), visits the southern border to review security efforts near Santa Teresa, N.M., June 17, 2025. The leaders discussed ways Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB) and DHS can further strengthen border security. Under the direction of U.S. Northern Command, Joint Task Force–Southern Border aligns efforts to seal the southern border and repel illegal activity and is responsible for full-scale, agile, and all-domain operations, which will allow for more effective and efficient DoD operations.
