Kevin Hines, motivational speaker and suicide attempt survivor, shared his life-long struggle with bipolar depression with Navy Region Hawaii Sailors and civilians at Pearl Harbor Memorial Chapel on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, June 16, 2025. Hines attempted to take his own life in 2000 by jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. A mental health and suicide prevention advocate, Hines recounted his story of survival, resilience and hope. Commander, Navy Region Hawaii is the regional coordinator for all shore-based naval personnel and shore activities in Hawaii and enables naval forces and fleet operations.
