A U.S. Army HH-60 Blackhawk helicopter assigned to the 1st Battalion, 214 Aviation Regiment, 12th Combat Aviation Brigade, departs the landing zone after conducting hot loading training as part of Saber Guardian 25, Zero Point, June 15, 2025. This training enhanced the Soldiers' ability to follow proper procedures for loading and unloading casualties with the helicopter running. It also aimed to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of those Soldiers who had not previously been exposed to aviation assets, allowing them to learn the correct procedures. (U.S. Army photo by Spc. Demonstrating global deterrence and the U.S. Army’s capability to rapidly deploy U.S.-based combat power in Europe and the Arctic region alongside allies and partners, DEFENDER 25 brings together U.S. troops and forces from 29 allied and partner nations to enhance readiness through large-scale combat training from May 11 to June 24, 2025. DEFENDER 25 increases the lethality of the NATO alliance through extensive tactical training maneuvers and long-range fire exercises, builds unit readiness in a complex joint, multinational environment, and leverages host nation capabilities to extend the U.S. Army’s operational reach. During three major combat training exercises—Swift Response, Immediate Response, and Saber Guardian—ally and partner forces integrate and enhance multi-domain operations capabilities, demonstrating combined command and control structures and readiness to respond to crises and conflicts.
