EAST MEDITERRANEAN SEA (May 28, 2025) The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Oscar Austin (DDG 79) flies her battle flag, May 28, 2025. The ship is named after Pfc. Oscar Austin who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for heroism in Vietnam while serving with the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines. Oscar Austin is on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations supporting U.S. Naval Forces Europe-Africa to defend U.S., Allied and partner interests.
