Omaha Beach in Normandy, France. U.S. military personnel will commemorate the 81st
anniversary of Operation Overlord, the Allied invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944, widely
known as D-Day. Service members from approximately 25 units will take part in more than 80
commemorative events from June 3 to June 8, in approximately 40 French communities
throughout the Normandy region -- including a bilateral ceremony at Normandy American
