A team member at Arnold Air Force Base, Tenn., places a plastic bottle into one of the plastic recycling bins located throughout the installation May 30, 2025. The Arnold AFB Recycling Center recently announced that beginning June 16 it will no longer accept plastic materials. The move is primarily due to rising costs related to the collection, sorting and processing of recyclable plastics coupled with a reduced market demand for plastic across Tennessee. Other recyclables, such as aluminum cans, cardboard and paper, will still be accepted by the center. (U.S. Air Force photo by Bradley Hicks)
