NEWPORT, R.I.— U.S. Naval War College (NWC) students conduct their final comprehensive exercise in the college's National Security and Decision Making (NSDM) course. Students across 13 seminar groups were challenged to produce executive-level national security plans, with nested military strategies, designed to advance U.S. interests in a simulated scenario. The plans were then presented to National Security Affairs department faculty and guest panelists. The scenario required students to take a whole of government approach, considering planning factors such as economics, public health, emerging technology, supply chains, and joint and interagency cooperation. Through close collaboration between military practitioners and civilian academics, NWC's National Security Affairs department equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the complex and evolving security challenges of the 21st century. Established in 1884, NWC informs today’s decision-makers and educates tomorrow’s leaders by providing educational experiences and learning opportunities that develop their ability to anticipate and prepare strategically for the future, strengthen the foundations of peace, and create a decisive warfighting advantage.
