Williamsport Mayor Derek Slaughter and local officials gathered with USACE leadership on the Northeast Williamsport levee system May 29 to review funding priorities following a semi-quantitative risk assessment (SQRA) that identified concerns with existing floodwalls along Lycoming Creek. District Commander Col. Frank Pera, Project Manager Ray Tracy, and Project Engineer Syed Qayum led discussions with Williamsport and Lycoming County representatives about the federally authorized project along the West Branch Susquehanna River and Lycoming Creek that protects more than 4,000 buildings and critical infrastructure in the city that hosts the Little League World Series Championships each year.
