Maj. Gen. Lawrence G. Ferguson (right) awards the Soldier's Medal to Staff Sgt. John C. Pinnock (left) assigned to Group Support Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) on Fort Carson, Colorado, May 28, 2025. While on a vacation in Haiti Pinnock witnessed an elderly gentleman lose control of his mobility scooter and plunge into the harbor. Pinnock leapt off of the pier into the harbor, treading water, holding the gentleman above the surface, and keeping him calm while waiting for a rescue boat to arrive on scene.
