ATLANTIC OCEAN (May 23, 2025) A chaff cartridge from one of amphibious transport dock USS San Antonio’s (LPD 17) super rapid bloom offboard countermeasures (SRBOC) chaff launchers launches into the air. Chaff is a defensive system designed to disperse small filaments a distance from the ship causing a large radar signature to confuse missiles guided by radar targeting systems. The Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group (ARG) and 22nd MEU are underway in the Atlantic Ocean executing ARGMEUEX which prepares integrated naval task forces for sustained, high-end Joint and combined combat. Integrated naval training provides combatant commanders and the Commander-in-Chief highly capable forces that deter adversaries, underpin American security and economic prosperity, and reassure Allies and partners.
