On May 23, 2025, a wreath was placed in front of the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division Newport’s stone marker for Memorial Day to honor the 34 men who have died in the line of duty since Division Newport’s founding in July 1869, nearly 156 years ago. The marker, located in the heart of the warfare center's campus, serves as a lasting symbol of the commitment of federal civilian employees to the U.S. Navy.
