U.S. Airmen prepare C-17 Globemaster III aircraft for departure at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, March 23, 2025. The C-17 is capable of rapid strategic delivery of troops and all types of cargo to main operating bases or directly to forward operating bases in a deployment area. The aircraft’s inherent flexibility and performance improves the ability of the total airlift system to fulfill the worldwide air mobility requirements of the Department of Defense.
