U.S. Army Soldiers, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, assigned to Joint Task Force–Southern Border, carry supplies for the New Mexico National Defense Area (NMNDA) sign emplacement mission to a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter near Deming, New Mexico, May 20, 2025. Materials were provided by aerial delivery due to austere terrain restricting ground maneuver. Under the direction of U.S. Northern Command, Joint Task Force–Southern Border aligns efforts to seal the southern border and repel illegal activity and is responsible for full-scale, agile, and all-domain operations, which will allow for more effective and efficient DoD operations.
