250327-N-GP248-1002 MCMURDO STATION, Antarctica (Mar 27, 2025) – Lt. Cmdr. Corey Cattano (right) from New Providence N.J., Detachment Antarctica Officer in Charge (OIC) and Chief Petty Officer Joshua Brewer (left) from Lampasas, Texas, Senior enlisted leader (SEL), fold a tattered American flag presented by McMurdo Station Manager Erin Heard. The flag, one of only two official station ensigns, honors the resilience of the Seabees and is now preserved as a symbol of overcoming adversity. NMCB-3 provides critical engineering and construction support to missions worldwide. With a legacy of excellence dating back to World War II, NMCB-3’s skilled builders and engineers continue to support scientific research in Antarctica by constructing and maintaining vital infrastructure that allows for groundbreaking studies in one of the most remote regions on the planet.
