U.S. Soldiers, assigned to the 549th Military Police Company, 716th Military Police Battalion, 89th Military Police Brigade, under Joint Task Force-Southern Border (JTF-SB), observe the southern border barrier during a joint patrol with the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents in Chula Vista, Calif., May 15, 2025. During their patrols, U.S. Soldiers are responsible for aiding CBP agents with detection and monitoring operations. Under the direction of U.S. Northern Command, Joint Task Force-Southern Border aligns efforts to seal the southern border and repel illegal activity and is responsible for full-scale, agile, and all-domain operations, which will allow for more effective and efficient DoD operations.
