Major General Yann Latil, Commander French Forces New Caledonia, and his staff came to DKI APCSS to meet with Director Suzy Vares-Lum, Deputy Director Russ Bailey, and Senior Diplomatic Fellow Ambassador Pete Haymond, May 12, 2025 Honolulu, Hawaii. Discussions focused on the ways the Center can facilitate collaborative approaches to address the dynamic and increasingly complex security environment in the South Pacific. This meeting signaled renewed partnership between the US and one of our oldest allies, and highlighted the role DKI APCSS can play as the premier forum for empowering allies and partners in the region of consequence of the 21st century. DKI APCSS is a U.S. Department of Defense institute that addresses regional and global security issues, inviting military and civilian representatives of the United States and Asia-Pacific nations to its comprehensive program of executive education and workshops, both in Hawaii and throughout the Indo-Pacific region.
