Maj. Gen. Tom Suelzer traveled to Pilsen, Czech Republic, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the city’s liberation from Nazi occupation. The event honors the courageous Czechs who rose up against tyranny and the U.S. Soldiers who fought to free the city. Pilsen’s liberation is among the final battlefield triumphs of the European Theater.
During the visit, Maj. Gen. Suelzer participated in the city’s Liberation Day Parade, met with WWII Veterans, placed a wreath at the Thank You, America! Memorial, and delivered a proclamation to Pilsen’s First Deputy Lord Mayor on behalf of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to honor the historic milestone.
