Officers assigned to the George Washington Carrier Strike Group join Chilean naval officers and Paul Simons, U.S. ambassador to Chile, to honor Chilean Sailors killed during the 1879 Pacific War at the Heroes of Iquique Monument. The George Washington CSG is supporting Partnership of the Americas to implement the U.S. Maritime Strategy of cooperation with South American maritime partners to promote interoperability and trust that will ultimately lead to greater hemispheric security.
