U.S. Army Spc. Nicholas Brewer and Spc. Justin Vela, assigned to the 549th Military Police Company, 716th Military Police Battalion, under Joint Task Force–Southern Border, conduct a joint patrol alongside U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Border Patrol agents near Chula Vista, Calif., May 7, 2025. During this operation, the team was observing the terrain for any signs of illegal border crossings and suspicious movement. Under the direction of U.S. Northern Command, Joint Task Force–Southern Border aligns efforts to seal the southern border and repel illegal activity and is responsible for full-scale, agile, and all-domain operations, which will allow for more effective and efficient DoD operations.
