U.S. Army active-duty Soldiers conduct a casualty evacuation exercise using experimental autonomous vehicles and aircraft May 7, 2025, at Fort Barfoot, Virginia. The CASEVAC was part of U.S. Army Futures Command’s annual Sustainment Modernization Experiment, hosted at First Barfoot April 28 - May 7, 2025. During the SMEx, Soldiers trained on and operated emerging technologies for viability ahead of possible future implementation into Army operations.
