250501-N-NF288-1178 NORTH PACIFIC OCEAN (May 1, 2025) Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class Riley Etchison, from Burlington, Iowa, gives signals to the pilots of an MH-60R Sea Hawk from the Easyriders of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 37 during a helicopter in-flight refueling (HIFR) exercise aboard the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Preble (DDG 88) in the North Pacific Ocean, May 1. HIFR allows for airborne refueling in situations where a flight deck landing isn’t possible. Preble is forward deployed and assigned to Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 15, the Navy’s largest DESRON and the U.S. 7th fleet’s principal surface force.
