The official mascot of Marine Barracks Washington , Chesty XVI, enters the first official Friday Evening Parade of the 2025 Parade Season at Marine Barracks Washington, D.C., May 2, 2025. Hosted by the 39th Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. Eric M. Smith with Guest of Honor, Vice President JD Vance, the first official parade of the 2025 season featured unforgettable performances by the Silent Drill Platoon, “The Commandant’s Own” Drum & Bugle Corps, and “The President’s Own” Marine Band. The Friday Evening Parades continue to represent the pride, precision, and standard of excellence upheld by our Marine Corps for the past 250 years. Since 1957, Friday Evening Parades at the “Oldest Post of the Corps” have served as a symbol of pride and professionalism, welcoming distinguished guests and the public to witness the Marine Corps’ storied heritage.
