The District of Columbia National Guard Drug Demand Reduction Outreach (DDRO) team supports the
“Jobs Not Drugs” youth career-building workshop, held April 9, 2025, in Washington, D.C. The
event brought together local and federal partners to connect youth with job opportunities as part of
the city’s broader anti-violence and drug prevention strategy. DDRO’s presence reinforces its
mission: to prevent drug misuse through early intervention, career awareness, and positive
community engagement.
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) played a central role, offering insight into law
enforcement careers and the consequences of substance abuse. The DDRO team reinforced this
messaging by participating as role models and mission-aligned professionals, encouraging youth
to consider service and leadership as viable paths. Together, the DEA and DDRO demonstrated
the power of early engagement and direct outreach in prevention efforts.
