NORFOLK, Virginia (April 15, 2025) Quartermaster 1st Class Matthew Collier, assigned to the USS San Antonio (LPD 17), speaks to Navy Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corps (NJROTC) cadets from West Carter High School in the bridge of the San Antonio during a ship tour, April 15. San Antonio is the lead ship of its class of amphibious transport dock and first ship of the United States Navy to be named for the city of San Antonio, Texas. San Antonio is part of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group which deters aggression, projects power through presence abroad, and executes contingency missions with its Marine Corps team in support of U.S. strategic interest around the world.
