The District of Columbia National Counterdrug Drug Demand Reduction (DDRO) team and Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) make a powerful impact at Powell Elementary on April 8, 2025, in Washington, DC., by educating students on the importance of making healthy life choices. As part of the school’s Career Day, the team introduced students to the mission of the DC DDRO program and inspired them to consider a future in service.
Beyond sharing their expertise in drug prevention, the team showcased the diverse career opportunities within the Army National Guard, drawing from their own backgrounds in aviation and public affairs. Engaging with curiosity and enthusiasm, students asked insightful questions and walked away with meaningful reminders of their commitment to a drug-free lifestyle, including specially designed buttons. Through this initiative, the DDRO team reinforced the power of informed choices and the opportunities that come with a life dedicated to service and leadership.
