Sandra Wortham, sister of fallen 1st Lt. Thomas E. Wortham IV, provides remarks during the 1st Lt. Thomas E. Wortham IV Achievement Award ceremony Feb. 1 at Richards Street Armory in Milwaukee. Wortham was tragically killed in 2010 fighting off an armed robbery attempt, and the Wisconsin National Guard and the Chicago Police Department each developed an award to honor his legacy. The award was presented to Capt. Daniel Bruins, brigade engineer with the Wisconsin Army National Guard’s 157th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade headquarters, who demonstrated outstanding commitment to the community and the military.
