The Mississippi River at the Carrollton Gage in New Orleans, La., has once again risen above 11 feet, prompting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New Orleans District, to reactivate Phase I flood fight procedures April 14, 2025. Phase I is a proactive measure that is triggered when the Mississippi River reaches 11 feet at the Carrollton Gage and is forecast to continue to rise. During Phase I, USACE inspects the levee system twice weekly in case they need to respond to any problem areas that may develop along the system because of the elevated water levels.
