Steve Nordhaus, chief, National Guard Bureau, presents Emily Baldeosingh as the National Guard honoree during the Operation Homefront 2025 Military Child of the Year Gala, Arlington, Virginia, April 10, 2025. Emily is the daughter of the late Army Sgt. Juan Carlos Baldeosingh, who was killed in action June 29, 2009, while serving with the North Carolina National Guard in Iraq. She is her senior class president, two-time NCA Cheer All-American, and a varsity letter athlete in cheer, lacrosse, soccer, and track and field, in addition to her volunteer work for which she earned her community’s chamber of commerce volunteer of the year award for 2024.
