250328-N-XB532-1101 ATLANTIC OCEAN (Mar. 28, 2025) Boatswains Mate 2nd Class John Strand, from Warner Robins, Georgia, stands as a safety observer for an MH-60 Sierra, attached to the “Tridents” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 9 during routine flight operations on the flight deck of the Arleigh Burke-Class guided missile destroyer USS Mahan (DDG 72), March 28, 2025. USS Mahan is underway with the Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group in the Atlantic Ocean completing integrated naval warfighting training. Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX) is the Joint Force’s most complex integrated training event and prepares naval task forces for sustained high-end Joint and combined combat.
