Mindy Simonson, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency forensic archeologist, sets up a GPS receiver during a recovery mission in Laos, Jan. 21, 2025. Scientific recovery experts use GPS devices to properly facilitate high accuracy geo spatial data collection. Once set up, they can be used to map out recovery sites, and pinpoint where evidence and other information is found. There are more than 280 personnel missing in Laos from the Vietnam War.
