Virginia Army National Guard Soldiers assigned to the West Point-based 237th Engineer Company, 276th Engineer Battalion, 329th Regional Support Group participate in the popular Finnish past-time of “avanto” or ice-hole swimming Feb. 17 near Helsinki, Finland. The event was hosted by trainers from the Finnish Army’s Karelia Brigade as a way to build camaraderie with their U.S. allies. The 237th is in Finland as part of Arctic Forge 25, a U.S. Army multilateral exercise in Finland and Norway, focused on enhancing arctic military capabilities and cooperation.
