Marines with the provost marshal's Office Special Reaction Team stormed a building after negotiations failed during a simulated hostage incident in the Lester Family Housing area May 7. The incident was part ofConstant Vigilance 2008, a four-day anti-terrorism, force protection exercise that tested base response capabilities. The team shot and killed one hostage taker and injured the other with a shot to the ribs to quell the simulated incident and save the hostages. (Official U.S. Marine Corps photo/Cpl.
