Cindy Easterling, the mother of Sgt. Wade Wilson, speaks with Marines after accepting the Silver Star Medal on behalf of her son during an award ceremony here, March 14, 2013. Wilson, a native of Centerville, Texas, was killed in Afghanistan on May 11, 2012 while advancing toward an enemy combatant who was armed with an AK-47. Wilson placed himself between the insurgent and a wounded Marine, sustaining multiple gunshot wounds before being fatally wounded.
