    Julia Williams, who served as a Marine from 1943 to 1946, stands before a crowd at the morning flag raising ceremony March 1, 2013, on Parris Island, S.C. Williams, 91, from Beatrice, Neb., visited Parris Island for the 70th anniversary of women in the Marine Corps celebration hosted by 4th Recruit Training Battalion. Parris Island has been training female enlisted Marines since 1949.
